Not a whole lot to discuss today. Dan the Workout Partner™ was insistent that we mix up the cardio today, so we rode the bike. Not a fan. Boring, don't sweat as much, and I don't think that it's made for a 20 minute spin. I think that if I were to do the bike, I should be doing a long, slow burn on it and riding for at least 45 minutes. I hope his itch has been properly scratched and tomorrow we do the elliptical again. Or perhaps it's time to investigate the Stairmaster. Yikes.
btw, chest day? Sucks. Dan and I have the same lifting program and can do the same weights for everything, with two exceptions. He can handle more weight on chest day, specifically the incline bench. I can handle more weight on leg day, specifically the leg curl. I recognize that we're all different and have different skills, but like most men (I think) I fantasize about having a nice, broad chest that fills out a t-shirt - or at least sticks out further than my stomach. Instead, my gift is extra strength in my hamstrings - a muscle that to see properly I have to remove my pants, find a mirror, do a three-quarter turn and squat down as though I was deucing in the woods. Not so much a fantasy of mine as a reality when camping.
I took 20 pounds off Dan's lifts for incline when doing my reps. But I still did 'em. So there. :)

I say try the StairMaster. It's scary looking!
You crack me up! "...deucing in the woods." Now there's a picture. *grin*
The stairmaster is terrible. I tried it on the gym induction day and had to come off after 90 secs. This coming from a woman who stays on the treadmill for at least an hour. now I just look at the stairmaster from the treadmill!
Good luck if you get on it! You'll need it.
I couldn't do more than a minute on the Stairmaster in the beginning, but am up to about 5 minutes now. It's hard work and very rewarding! I agree about cycling, it does nothing for me!
hey legs are important too... nothing worse than a guy who is really buff from the waist up but has chicken legs
Not the stairmaster!!! Elliptical all teh way baby! And what's 20lbs..you basically lift the same as Dan :)
Stairmaster scarry!!
I have been using the old Row machine, it seems out of vogue, but also always avaiable and gives a good workout
I'll actually be one to voice a pro to the Stairmaster! Not to say that I haven't almost horked after getting off it a few times (the Stair Mill is even worse), but it's definitely a great way to increase your cardio. Start short, and work your way up from there in 20 second increments. As for the bike, it's resistance all the way, baby. To do intervals on it is a bit like imagining that you've just found a big hill to climb. I actually quite like the bike- and the stairmaster- and the elliptical- and even the treadmill... guess I'm just a cardio machine junkie :D
You know, the picture you created in my mind about "deucing in the woods" was just too much...but at least you're seeing definition!
I hate the stairmaster. With a strong passion. But some people just loooove it. Ew.
I wouldn't worry too much about your friend lifting more on his incline. In actuality I believe that at the end of things can have a bigger upper body than your friend. I have read some things that say the more weight you move the more testosterone you produce and inevitably the bigger your muscles will get. Just keep at it, the more legs you do, the more your arms will grow.
