Bad week I guess

Well, yesterday I did well; I hit the gym, I drank my water, I ate my salad... then after work I joined up with some friends for drinks and laughs. I had chicken fingers and bruschetta for dinner, along with four beers.

I didn't bother to weigh in today. I know the deal. No movement/upward movement. That's fine.

Again, I did well this week. Exercised 5 times, ate my chicken salads for lunch, drank loads of water. It was just one of those weeks where I didn't lose. But the key is, I stayed on plan and didn't get discouraged and give up/give in. So there's an important victory in this week that goes far beyond the scale - keep at it. The scale doesn't matter. The number doesn't matter. Getting healthy, being healthy, acting healthy... this is what matters.

So I'm going to keep on keeping on. Hopefully next week I'm rewarded for my continued efforts this week.

Those are the weeks that i find you learn the most. When you've done pretty good and the scale doesn't move but you just keep going and don't think about it :) Because i believe in real life we're going to have a lot of these weeks!

Agreeing with Suzi over here.
And in the ong run, we're all shooting for week after week of no movement on the scale - at goal.

You can also look at another way, you didnt gain weight. Maintaining your current weight does not make us nearly as happy as seeing that loss on the scale but I believe it deserves an applaud.

CLAP, CLAP, WTG!

I was thinking about your blog last night as I was sputtering on the eliptical. Seems a week away due to illness has some undesirable affects on your endurance. Anyways - it's the weeks like this where you realize that this is your new life style. Lose/gain/maintain...it's just another step on the path to a healthier, more active, person.

If I haven't told you before - i really like reading your blog. It's nice to know there is someone else out there that considers themselves "on program" and still able to eat bar food every once and again. Balance...

Kudos for not being disheartened.

I maintained my weight this week and felt a little crap about but I too am realising its more about being healthy and not just letting the scales rule my life.

I agree with lady with a view. Balance is needed.

@Lady - yeah, I can't ban anything from my life, unless I want to deal with the anxiety that comes from the pressure building up around That Which I May Not Have. At some point, I then go bananas and eat two whole pizzas or something. Not going to happen! So I allow myself anything I'd like, so long as I continue to exercise and maintain portion control. And if I do choose a 1200 calorie meal, I try to minimize the other meals. I don't always succeed, but I do succeed in getting right back at it the next day. And that's a victory I never had in the past. :)

Great job on all your successes this week.

that 'key' is a tremendous victory in my eyes as well.
and the scale, as you know, will resume its downward movement next week.

for sure.

What a great attitude, being healthy is what matters.

You are right on, you got in alot of exercise and ate well..... when i drink a few beers, the scale scares the hell out of me for a few days, so i avoid it when that happens.
